Dr. Mona Mostafa El-Sholkamy is an accomplished economist, academic, and international development consultant with over 23 years of experience spanning academia, the United Nations system, and the World Bank Group. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Macroeconomics and Public Finance at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), Dubai, while also consulting for the World Bank as a Development Investment and Data Monetization Expert.
In her work with the World Bank, Dr. El-Sholkamy has led comprehensive Cost-Benefit Analyses (CBA), data monetization projects, and impact assessments that informed multi-million-dollar investment decisions, particularly in digital transformation, infrastructure, and governance reforms across the MENA region. Her analyses have been instrumental in securing international funding and aligning national projects with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She also holds the position of Chair of the Regional Network of Experts on Agricultural Trade (RNE-AT) at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO-UN), where she leads regional dialogue on food security, trade facilitation, and sustainable agricultural policy.
Dr. El-Sholkamy earned her PhD in Economics from Cairo University, and also completed advanced executive programs at Harvard Business School and MIT. Her research and advisory expertise span economic policy analysis, trade negotiations, sovereign wealth funds, and sustainable finance. She has published widely in international journals and contributed to influential reports, including the UAE Economic Diplomacy Report and multiple flagship publications with FAO and MBRSG.
As a Lead Expert at GREA, she brings her interdisciplinary expertise in economics, policy, and sustainability to mentor researchers and guide evidence-based strategies for global academic and development impact.
